Edwin Clark wants Prof. Jega out, calls for election postponement

by Andem Effiong

Supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan have called for the resignation of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega.

This was announced by the supporters, under the aegis of Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly led by Edwin Clark at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, February 5.

Among those at the briefing were a former Minister of Information, Walter Ofonagoro; a former Governor of Anambra State, Chuwuemeka Ezeife; a former Commissioner in Bayelsa State, Whisky Ayakeme; Cairo Ojugboh and  Femi Okunronmu.

Members of the group, who are staunch supporters of President Jonathan, also demanded the postponement of the February elections, accusing Jega of conniving with northern leaders to rig Jonathan out of office.

They threatened that elections won’t hold in southern part of the country if the commission should decide to go ahead with the scheduled elections.
