The 2017 edition of the annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards is here
Organizers unveiled the list of nominees in 21 categories that cover music, film and sports.
Leading with seven nominations is Beyonce in categories including Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste, Video of the Year and Album of the Year (Lemonade).
Contending with Beyonce in the Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste category are her sister Solange, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige and Kehlani.
In the Album of the Year category, Bruno Mars, J.Cole, Chance the Rapper and Solange will be going head to head with Beyonce.
Nominees in the female acting category are Fences actress, Viola Davis, Gabrielle Union, Janelle Monae, Taraji P.Henson and Issa Rae. In the Best Actor category, Empire’s Bryshere Gray, Power’s Omari Hardwick, Denzel Washington, Donald Glover and Oscar award winner, Mahershala Ali are the nominees.
How do African artistes come in?
In another music category called Best International Act: Africa, Nigerian superstars, Davido, Wizkid, Tekno and Mr Eazi have been nominated alongside South Africa’s AKA, Nasty C and Babes Wodumo.
Ice Prince won a BET Award in this category in 2013 while Davido won in the year that followed.
This year’s BET Awards will hold on 25 June.
Tonto Dikeh’s nanny accuses her of verbal assault
Mgbechi Enyinnaya, a former domestic staff of Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has accused her of verbal assualt and constant harassment.
The 56-year-old who worked with Tonto as her son’s nanny said contrary to the actress’ previous claims, “She has never given me money to give to my children. The only thing she did was to give me some of the clothes she wanted to distribute to motherless babies homes to give to my children.”
Enyinnaya also said, “At the slightest opportunity, she would rain abuses on me and tell that she would scatter me if I wasn’t careful. I lived in that house with her despite all the constant harassment because of her son, King. I loved the boy like my own child and it was because of him that I stayed long with her.”
Another actress, Halima Abubakar had earlier released a video where Tonto questioned the nanny and captioned the video with a disclaimer narrating her good deeds towards the woman.

And it’s a boy!
The comedian and actor shared a number of Instagram posts and captioned them, “Celebrating Mother’s Day with my beautiful wife. We are laughing at the fact that this time next year we will be celebrating her 1st actual Mother’s Day. #Harts #Blessed.”
Kevin Hart, who has two other children from a previous marriage, married Eniko Parrish in August 2016.
