Here are the biggest stories you may have missed in entertainment during the week and others that unraveled while you slept – and are still buzzing today.
Letitia Wright lands major role in Agatha Christie adaptation, ‘Death on the Nile’
With Murder on the Orient Express, director and actor Kenneth Branagh loaded the cast with famous faces and impressive actors, all in the name of bringing Agatha Christie’s mystery to life. Branagh clearly wants to repeat this approach with the sequel, Death on the Nile. Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer and Jodie Comer already have parts, and now Black Panther breakout Letitia Wright has climbed aboard the Death on the Nile cast as well. Wright will play one of the suspects Branagh’s Hercule Poirot is investigating. Filming will start this September.
Universal Pictures release crazy second trailer for Hobbs & Shaw
The more Hobbs & Shaw trailers I see, the more I want to watch this Fast & Furious spin-off. Idris Elba’s “Black Superman” villain might also be interesting, but if he also wants to wipe out half of the world’s population, he might be in the wrong movie franchise. The movie is out August 1, 2019.
Orion pictures releases first trailer for Child’s Play reboot
Released on Thursday, and as a fan of the 1988 original movie, this trailer was disappointing. Even though I’m still coming to terms with the fact that Chucky will now be a robot doll rather than voodoo-possessed, Andy shows up as a preteen. It feels wrong. How many preteens play with dolls these days??? Andy should be a child and let me stop here before I get too passionate. Also, Mark Hamill voicing Chucky at the end was delightful. Child’s Play hit cinemas June 20, 2019
