EPL: Liverpool go top, beat Watford 6-1

Liverpool Football Club showed their title challenging credentials as they were absolutely outstanding against opponents Watford.

The Reds attack proved unbearable for The Hornets as Jurgen Klopp’s front Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino all scored.

Mane opened the scoring with a bullet header off a Coutinho cross. Coutinho doubled lead with a cool finish after a Firmino pass. Emre Can made it three before half time with a towering header from an Adam Lallana cross.

Liverpool kicked off the second half just as they began the first to the delight of the Anfield faithful.

Firmino made it four from an Adam Lallana assist. Firmino turned provider as he put a low cross in the Watford penalty area for Mane to tap in Liverpool’s fifth.

Daryl Janmaat scored a consolatory goal for the visitors, but Liverpool was not done as substitute Giorgino Wijnaldum made it six in stoppage time.

This convincing victory puts The Reds top of the Premier League table with 26 points for the first time since 2014.
