A former Commissioner for Local Government in Niger State, Kantigi Lima has denied ownership of N6bn discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in his company’s account.

The agency had last week discovered N4bn belonging to two companies, Katah Property & Investment Limited and Sadiq Air Travel Agency.

The EFCC had said it belongs to a deputy governorship candidate during the 2015 election.

EFCC on Friday traced another N2bn to a fixed deposit account belonging to him.

EFCC added that Lima has been elusive since the discovery of the funds.

He is on the run and all efforts to track him down have been futile,” NAN quoted EFCC.

“The next option left for the commission is to declare him wanted.”

Lima in a statement by his lawyers has however denied any link with the funds.

He threatened to take legal actions over what he termed as malicious reports that he owns the money.

The lawyers stated, “Therefore, if not for mischief purposes, how can anybody reasonably attach ownership of funds in the accounts of a company to a particular person?”
