FG approves 15,000 recruits for NDLEA

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, on Tuesday disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 5000 personnel into the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in 2016 and another 10,000 in 2017.

Malami said this while speaking at the ECOWAS ministers’ meeting in Abuja.

He said the Federal Government plans to increase the manpower of the agency to fight drug related crimes.

The ECOWAS director in charge of Drug Control, Sintiki Ugbe, commended Nigeria’s effort to tackle drug trafficking.

He said the Nigerian government has shown its commitment against drug abuse by approving more personnel for the NDLEA.

Ugbe said, “We see and applaud that kind of political commitment in the region. We also want to see the translation of political commitment into real actions.”
