Leadership newspaper and two of its journalists, Tony Ameokodo and Chibuzor Ukaibe have found themselves facing the Federal Government again after new forgery charges were filed against the Leadership Group Limited recently.

The FG had previously withdrawn the forgery charges before but reports claim it recently changed its mind, dragging the newspaper and its reporters before Justice U. Musale of an Abuja High Court in Kubwa on 11 counts.

In April, the journalists were slammed with a six counts charge for allegedly forging a presidential directive and publishing same purporting the forged document as true.

The Punch reports:

They were accused of forging the bromide of a presidential directive.

The charge was filed on behalf of the Federal Government by Adegboyega Awomolo, (SAN).

The Abuja FHC, presided over by Justice Adeniyi Ademola, had on May 2, 2013, struck out the case, following the withdrawal of the initial six counts by Awomolo.

The development followed a notice of preliminary objection filed by the defence counsel, Femi Falana, (SAN), who argued that the the Abuja FHC lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the charge.
