Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or for the third time in his career.

Ronaldo won the award for the second consecutive time, ahead of Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi.

In 2014, the Portuguese led Madrid to Champions League glory by netting a record 17 goals in one campaign.

Ronaldo was also influential as the Santiago Bernabeu side won the Copa del Rey, where he scored three goals in six appearances.

The 29-year-old also won the Liga top scorer award by scoring 31 goals in 30 appearances, which saw him crowned joint-winner of the European Golden Shoe alongside Luis Suarez.

Ronaldo becomes the seventh player in history to win back-to-back Ballon d’Or titles.
