After months of promises, the Nigerian senate has finally withdrawn the anti-social media bill sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah.
The decision to withdraw the bill came on the heels of a report presented on Tuesday by the Senate Committee on Human Rights and Legal Matters.
The report by the committee explicitly stated that the bill was a violation of the rights of citizens and also contradicted existing Nigerian laws, as well as being a cog in the wheel of the ongoing anti-corruption war.
