Former governor Nyako was questioned for 10 hours yesterday by EFCC

Former governor of Adamawa State, Admiral Murtala Nyako, who surrendered himself to anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after returning to Nigeria, was interrogated for more than 10 hours over allegation of laundering up to N15 billion.

The former Chief of Naval Staff willingly returned to the country on Saturday, May 30, following the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to Vanguard Newspapers, he visited the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday, June 1, around 10 am but was still in their premises as at 8pm.

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for the EFCC would later reveal that Nyako was released on “administrative bail”.

Uwujaren said the 73-year-old Nyako was also released based on his age and health situation.

After his impeachment as governor in July last year, the EFCC attempted to arrest Nyako but he managed to flee to an undisclosed European country, where he had been in exile until his return.
