Fulani herdsmen attack Agatu again… engage military, police in gun duel

Fulani herdsmen have reportedly attacked Agatu community in Benue state, for the second time in the past two months.

The attack, which degenerated into a gun battle between a joint team of the Nigerian Army and Mobile Police Force officers against the deadly herdsmen, left a police officer, Corporal Ebiakpo Akparakazi missing and another reportedly kidnapped.

Confirming the attack, the Benue state police spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu revealed that a search party has been sent out to find and rescue the missing officer.

Also, a youth in the community, Inalegwu Chele was reported missing following the attack.

The Herdsmen has allegedly opened fire on the Military team and the Police who were going to investigate an alleged shooting of two youths of the Agatu community following a report.

Fortunately, the two youths reported to have been shot by the herdsmen were rescued and treatment is currently being administered to them.
