Meanwhile, the men of the hour were Daniel Day Lewis, who won Best Actor for a Motion Picture Drama for his role in Lincoln and Les Miserables star Hugh Jackman, who graciously accepted the Best Actor for a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
It was a big coup for Ben Affleck as he took home Best Director and his film Argo won Best Picture.
