Good news for Aregbesola: Oyinlola dumps PDP for APC

by Kolapo Olapoju

Former National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an erstwhile Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, indicated his intention to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, 4 August.

According to Punch, who reached out to the politician via telephone, he confirmed that he would be joining the APC, saying: “So it is. I am joining the APC.”

Oyinlola is expected to officially cross-carpet today, Tuesday, 5 August at the mega rally of the All Progressive Congress party which is scheduled to hold in Osogbo.

Oyinlola had been at loggerheads with the PDP for some time now, and this was more evident following his absence at the PDP mega rally which was held last Saturday in Osun state.

Meanwhile, Aregbesola had initally broached the subject at a recent campaign in Iwo that Oyinlola had already pitched his tent with the main opposition party.

He boasted that all the former elected governors of Osun state are in the camp of the APC. He said, “PDP was united as one party, we defeated them. Now the good ones among them have left and are now with us. The first elected governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, is with us; the second governor, Baba (Bisi) Akande is with us. The third governor Omo’ba (Prince), is also with us. I can say this but they cannot say it.”

Aregbesola also mocked Omisore, labelling him a serial loser who has never won any election. He said, “A former deputy governor, who was chased away from office is the one they are banking on to win the election, they are joking. Their candidate has never won any election and he cannot win this one. The only election he won was a gift to him from the prince and he did not win but the election was manipulated for him.”
