A newly wedded 18-year-old housewife, Aisha Jubril has been alleged to have murdered her husband with hot water.
Aisha was said to have poured hot water on husband, Ladan while taking his bath. He would later give up the ghost while being treated in an hospital.
The incident happened at about 5 pm on Wednesday, 8 October, at the couple’s residence at Jahun Ward, Bauchi.
According to a close family friend, the husband had recently accused her of getting an abortion without his consent, which prompted him to beat her up till she lost her front teeth.
Brother of the deceased, Nasiru Mohammed, reported the matter at Dutse Tanshi Police Station and Aisha was subsequently arrested and charged to court.
Aisha has been arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court 7, in Bauchi.
According to the Investigation Police Officer, Abdulahi Adamu, the suspect has been charged with culpable homicide, which is punishable under Section 224 of the Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the presiding Chief Magistrate, Isa El-Shuaibu, has adjourned the case to Tuesday, 28 October for further hearing.
