Following speculations that Dubai-based socialite, Ray Hushpuppi popularly known for his extravagant lifestyle was arrested by Interpol for fraudulent practices, the hub of voices; Twitter has been bubbling with the conversation.

The Nigerian socialite flaunts his riches and purchases on Instagram constantly; which explains why the news of an arrest for fraud, was quick to cause noise on social media platforms. The latest sting on the matter is the remarks made by Mompha, who had been convicted for fraudulent practices as well.

Mompha took to Instagram to state that people shouldn’t mock those facing trial today because they do not know what would become of their fate tomorrow, adding that God would never disappoint his own. This was interpreted as a subtle shade to Hushpuppi on his current predicament.

Mompha and Hushpuppi were notably friends but parted ways a while back. In 2019, it was revealed that Mompha, in an Instagram post by Kemi Olunloyo, was arrested by Interpol in Abuja upon his arrival from Dubai. Mompha was turned over to Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the fraud cases are still on to date.

Hushpuppi reacted to the news of Mompha’s arrest by saying ‘Those waiting for my own pick up will wait till they perish.’ This came as a result of Nigerians flooding his comment section to say that he would soon be next. As tides seemed to have turned, Nigerians are having a field day making jokes at Hushpuppi’s expense.

Mompha was quick to debunk such rumors making round and declared that he is no way happy about people’s “downfall.” He blamed bloggers for always trying to create a false narrative and for spinning his statement.

Some Twitter users are of the opinion that Hushpuppi’s case is much worse and can’t be compared to Mompha’s, stressing that he is speculated to have been arrested by an International Police Organisation, Interpol.

Many are waiting at the edge of their seat for further confirmation and details on what would befall the Nigerian socialite.
