I still have some pride: Lance Armstrong turns down a part on Dancing With The Stars

He may be banned from taking part in certain cycle races in the near future.

But Lance Armstrong could always fill his time with a spot of dancing if he fancied it.

According to reports the cyclist has been offered a place on the upcoming series of Dancing With The Stars but he turned it down.

Entertainment weekly report that the controversial sportsman has in fact been offered a spot on the hit ABC show every year since it’s conception.

The website reports that sources say he is one of the several high-profile stars who are regularly asked to dance.

Lance’s spokesperson confirmed the news saying: ‘Lance has been offered the show each and every year since its inception. Although flattered he has passed on their generous offers.’

He isn’t the only one who doesn’t fancy putting on their dancing shoes though, Lindsay Lohan reportedly rejected $550,000 to take part in this series too.

The interest in Lance comes after his recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

In the interview, which spread over two nights, Lance  admitted to using banned performance-enhancing drugs during his professional cycling career that included seven Tour de France titles.

An emotional Lance was close to tears when he spoke about the impact of his drug cheating on his family.

Speaking about his 13-year-old son Luke, the oldest of his five children, Armstrong said: ‘I saw my son defending me and saying, “That’s not true. What you’re saying about my dad is not true,'” Armstrong recalled.

‘That’s when I knew I had to tell him.’

Critics said Armstrong hadn’t been contrite enough in the first half of the interview, but  during the second half he seemed to lose his composure when Winfrey zeroed in on the emotional drama involving his personal life.

‘What did you say?’ Winfrey asked.

‘I said, “Listen, there’s been a lot of questions about your dad. My career. Whether I doped or did not dope. I’ve always denied that and I’ve always been ruthless and defiant about that. You guys have seen that. That’s probably why you trusted me on it.” Which makes it even sicker,’ Armstrong said.
