News was received today of a stampede in Kwara State which led to the deaths of some people and caused varying degrees of injury to others during the Sallah festivities.
The incident occurred during a yearly Peoples Democratic Party charity event which was organized for the purpose of giving out gifts for the Sallah celebrations.
The event had Senator Bukola Saraki, a former governor of the state, in attendance and reportedly took place near the former governor’s residence. This is why the sad development has struck a personal chord for the senator and as such he has released an official statement to convey his sadness and sympathy.
