Indonesia’s new president, Jokowi Widodo caused quite a stir hours ago as he opted to fly economy class to attend his son’s school graduation ceremony in Singapore.

Widodo and his wife, Iriana charged up the atmosphere at the airport when they were seen queuing to be checked in like every other traveller in the country.

He is known for his common touch, and his family have maintained a modest lifestyle since he became leader of South-East Asia’s biggest economy last month.

The Indonesian first family were in Singapore to see their youngest son, 19-year-old Kaesang Pangarep, graduate from the Anglo-Chinese International School on Friday evening.
