[The Injustice Blog] How true is the accusation against Debo Adedayo of Redeemer’s University?

The management of Redeemer’s University through the Directorate of Corporate Affairs, Redeemer’s University, Adetunji Adeleye in response to PUNCH Newspapers enquiry about the expulsion of Debo Adedayo said, “The case is purely a disciplinary issue in conformity with the stance and vision of the university. He has chosen to tarnish the image of the university with a pack of lies like he had done previously. His claims are untrue and dodge the real issues for which he was disciplined“.

The statement released by the university is laced with half-truth going by our findings. The school maintained the former President of Redeemer’s University Students Association tarnished the university image like he has done previously which is totally untrue.

A quick check on his Facebook page shows the university is being hypocritical and, finding faults by all means in its bid to nail the young man. On his Facebook page, there exist pictures that convey a message about his passion for the university which is a far contrast to the image-tarnishing accusations.

In one of the pictures, he was seen presenting a Portrait to Vice president Yemi Osinbajo alongside the Vice Chancellor of Redeemer’s University Professor Adeyewa and the Osun State Deputy Governor, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori, in another picture on a different date, he was seen presenting yet another portrait to Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola .

Also, there is a picture of him presenting a Redeemer’s University branded bag to Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu. In another, he was seen presenting another branded bag of Redeemer’s University to Speaker Yakubu Dogara after a meeting of Student union leaders of Nigerian Universities with the Speaker in Abuja.

These among many others which include visits to schools, Ikeja City Mall in Redeemer’s University clothes alongside souvenirs like customised pens to advertise the school to students and admission seekers were all done to project the image of the school to the world in his capacity as the Student Association President of the university.

Going by these pictorial pieces of evidence and old posts on his social media pages especially Facebook and Instagram, including numerous awards won within and outside the University, the accusation levelled against him by the university management of portraying the university in a bad light like he had done previously is totally Untrue.

He has shown enough commitment to the university and its growth, as a result, justice must be done to reverse the unfortunate expulsion.
