[The Injustice Blog] Uhuru Kenyatta: Like father, like son

The behaviour of President Uhuru Kenyatta after Kenya’s Supreme Court nullification of his victory at the August 8, 2017, elections has once again confirmed the popular maxim “Blood is thicker than water“.

To every close watcher of events in Kenya since the annulment of the elections, it is evident Uhuru Kenyatta is a reincarnation of Jomo Kenyatta. To those that might not know, Jomo Kenyatta was a fierce activist that fought white colonialists in the East Africa country.

He was the leader of Kenya African National Union (KANU) from 1961 till he died in the year 1978. He also served as the Prime minister and later as the First President of Kenya 1964 to 1978. His country witnessed some forms of developmental progress under his leadership.

But his disdain for opposition was an issue he battled with till he died. In his quest to have a one-party state in Kenya, Jomo Kenyatta as the leader of KANU prevented the opposition, Kenya People’s Union from participating in elections, same way his son, Uhuru prevented the National Super Alliance (Nasa) coalition from participating in the election held last week through various anti-democratic means until they boycotted the election.

In his bid to have life Presidency, he was the President for fourteen solid years until death removed him from office, as he was the ruling and the opposition party at the same time. As a result, he manipulated the whole process to suit his purpose.

That same trait made his son who is now the fourth President of the country to declare Supreme Court judges as crooks for annulling the August 7, 2017, elections and to show that he is a “true son of his father“.

He declared to the Supreme Court judges that the annulment of his election has made him a President and not a President-elect saying:

“Maraga should know that he is now dealing with the serving president, We are keeping a close eye on them. But let us deal with the election first. We are not afraid.”

The import of that statement is that leaving the Kenya Presidency seat is not an option for him but one he will relinquish it at his convenience.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has shown himself as a true son from Jomo Kenyatta loins, who has further decreased the number of credible leaders in Africa.
