A comprehensive nationwide audit of the armouries of the Police force has been ordered by the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba.

The directive was disseminated to the media on Wednesday, 22 October, through a statement released by the spokesperson of the Police force, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, ACP, in Abuja.

According to Ojukwu, the audit process is part of measures to strengthen accountability of police weaponry and armoury.

Stating it further, it revealed that the exercise had already begun in some states, adding that it would cover all police commands, formations, stations and units across the country.

Furthermore, the Police force stated that the audit of the armouries would enable the force to review the current state of arms and ammunition in its stocks at the various armouries around Nigeria.
