One major aim of this year’s Peoples Democratic Party convention, which began today, was to make peace between the many warring factions within the ruling party.
Unfortunately however, this aim was not realized as the exact opposite took place. The PDP has been divided into even smaller fragments as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar walked out of the convention with seven governors behind him.
The governors involved were those of Jigawa, Sokoto, Rivers, Niger, Adamawa, and Kwara States.
After addressing a press conference on the reasons for their decision, officers were elected to run the affairs of the new faction of the party.
