It’s no more news that the Inuwa Abdulkadir, the former Youth Minister was sacked by President Goodluck Jonathan on August 26, 2013 after engaging in some activities contrary to the ideals of the present administration.
[READ: Why Youth Development minister was sacked – Presidency]
After debunking widespread rumours that the Abdulkadir was sacked for failing to ensure that the president’s preferred candidate emerged as head of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the presidency explained that the former minister was shown the way out due to his “regrettable deviation from his presidential commitment in the management of the NYCN elections that led to the decision to relieve him of his appointment as Minister of Youth Development.”
The Presidency through Reuben Abati, the presidential adviser on Media and Publicity said Jonathan was very displeased with the mishandling of the NYCN elections in Makurdi and Minna by the Ministry of Youth Development which resulted in the unfortunate fractionalization of the youth council.
With Abdulkadir gone with his attendant under-achievement, the question remains: who will the President Jonathan appoint to man the Youth Ministry in an effective manner?
YNaija threw up a poser on the social media network, Twwitter, asking who the readers would nominate to be selected for the position and the answers received from came in as an eye-opener. Names ranging from Fela Durotye, a widely popular motivational speaker to Don Jazzy, the super-producer and head huncho at MAVIN record label were muted.

Such unscientific polls undertaken by YNaija give an insight into the thoughts of the youth. a bustling demographic the ministry is meant to oversee.
We will, however, have to wait and cross our fingers to know who President Goodluck Jonathan finally appoints into this sensitive position of Youth Minister.
Or we can just throw a bouquet and see whose head it lands on…
Incidentally, did a similar poll on fb and got a cool list: C. Jideonwo, N. Nwuneli, and a few other options here. So we don’t want to see any sleep sleep Minister anymore, that’s for sure.
