Just In: Manchester United part ways with Mourinho

Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho has parted ways with the club after the club sacked him 17 games into the Premier League season.

The Red Devils had on Sunday lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the Premier League and are 19 points away from the top of the table.

A statement by the club on Tuesday read:

“Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.

“The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.

“A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.”

United are currently 11 points off the final Champions League qualifying spot and there are still 21 fixtures left in the Premier League.

First-team coaches Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna, are being tipped to take temporary charge over the next five months.
