New details reveal that the suspected bomber from the Monday bomb blast in Kano hid the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in a wheelbarrow covering it with bananas and oranges as he disguised as a fruit seller passing by then they were detonated at New and Enugu/Igbo Road, all in Sabon-Gari, which is said to be populated by mostly the Igbos.

Just like before, the number of casualties from the Monday bomb blast by Boko Haram in Kano has become controversial.

While the Joint Security Task Force (JTF) and the police has totaled the figure of those dead at 12 with 12 others injured, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo disagreed with the figures, saying 45 people lost their lives.

Mazi Columba Ndubuisi, a trader who was at the scene told Daily Sun that the Boko Haram bomber arrived in  Enugu Road with a wheelbarrow and pretended to be selling fruits, he wandered innocently for a while, then he parked the wheelbarrow near the shop of one Mama Ejima by the side of a parked Mercedes Benz car.

Ndubuisi reportedly said from his shop he could see what was going on and when the boy parked his wheelbarrow, some people were actually calling him to come and sell to them but the boy, rather than selling, walked away to the main road, leaving his wares. After a few minutes after, the bomb exploded killing the woman (Mama Ejima) and several other people.

Another witness, who is simply called Mr. Eddy, watching football in a nearby bar when the first blast occurred, three people who sat close to him at their drinking table died.

“There was smoke everywhere. People were running everywhere, people were lying on the ground, many motorists jumped inside their cars and sped off. They came here with four pick-up vans to carry the bodies. I did not count them, but I know that they were many,” he added.

He said he had escaped the first blast unharmed but forgot his keys and tried to return in the midst of the thick billowing smoke, thinking that it was a single blast, only to be hit by the second explosion which stuck him and threw particles at him.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has reacted after it was revealed that the first bomb went off close to a church while worshippers were in a service.

State chairman, Bishop Ramos Bello, condemned the attack and appealed for deployment of more troops in the state. He also prayed God to receive the departed souls.
