Lagos stands still – and more, in today’s news roundup with Cheta Nwanze

Lai Mohammed

The ACN itself, does not have a stellar record when it comes to traffic management in Lagos as the charade that happened during Jagaban’s last birthday bash screams from the rooftops.

Please someone tell me that ACN parrot, Lai Mohammed did not threaten the Prez? Snap me out of the nightmare, he did. His letter said in part, “…may lead to a breach of peace, the consequences of which no one may be able to fathom.” And he did that in writing!

For the records, I am no fan of GEJ. But the fact remains that he is the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, and for better or for worse, that office ought to command some respect. There is no way that the Prez could be coming to Lagos (he is in fact just passing through), and the Governor of Lagos will not have known about it well in advance. So why is the ACN trying to score cheap political points with this shindig?

The ACN itself, does not have a stellar record when it comes to traffic management in Lagos as the charade that happened during Jagaban’s last birthday bash screams from the rooftops. My advice to Brother Lai, open the Christian good book and turn to Matthew 7:5.

To be fair to Brother Lai though, this particular Prez, and his cabinet, makes it easy to criticise, then get carried away with criticising, and slowly saunter from mere criticism to outright insults. How else do you explain that in the first quarter of the year after this government asked some beneficiaries of amnesty to guard our oil production, that oil theft has risen to N191 billions, or in other words, more than 50% of our daily consumption?

Bits and bobs

And in more ridiculous news that gives Brother Lai et al wings, the FG has provided unique insight into how it operates. How do you appoint committee members without letting them know prior that they would serve in the committee?

The PDP babariga lets us know in no uncertain terms that his scion is eminently qualified to take over as guv’nor of Adamawa state.

Still on PDP, and here is an interesting analysis as to why Rotimi Amaechi might soon be waltzing away from the party.

Dear Mr Olamide Akanbi,
I don’t understand ur point. Do u suggest d ransom be paid?! Accepted it is life that is involved here. I appreciate your sentiment and value for life but truth is Devil is a Devil any time, any day. But what is the assurance that if d ransom is paid today, there wouldn’t be a mightier demand in a more commando style?! Best thing is not to succumb to blackmail in any form. Let’s raise our voice in one accord so that our security officials can rise up to their responsibilities. But supported with prayers.

This is wrong.
