As part of the efforts of the 8th senate to help Nigeria out of the recession, Senate President Bukola Saraki has taken a bold step through his office to launch the #MadeinNigeria challenge in 2017.
The goal of the #MadeinNigeria challenge is to connect business investors with local manufacturers, especially those who churn out products that can serve as substitutes to imported ones.
Senator Bukola Saraki revealed these details in a thread via his personal Twitter account earlier today.
We can revive our leather industry by showcasing what Nigerians are doing in Kano, those smuggling in leather chairs will see the quality

We are blessed with all species of trees; we have no business importing matches and toothpick. @NGRSenate will support Executive to address

We import starch when we have cassavas in loads; we import tomato paste when our lands are greener pasture for tomato growth #MadeInNigeria

This further validates the recently re-enacted Public Procurement Act which was one of the bills that was given priority by the Senate upon resumption in September when the country had just fallen into the recession.
Beside his functions as Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has over time shown a personal passion for the Made in Nigeria campaign so this does not exactly come as a surprise. He is one of the top politicians who have patronized Nigerian made Innoson Motors.
The #MadeinNigeria challenge will be done via social media and here’s how:
From Jan 2nd 2017, using hashtag #MadeInNigeria manufacturers should post 45 Seconds to 3 Minutes video of a product we are importing …. pic.twitter.com/Ax1FJWB8Nj
