For raping and impregnating a woman, man gets life

A resident of Osun, Obafemi Kolawole has been sentenced to life imprisonment for rape, by a High Court sitting in Ilesha, Osun State.

Obafemi was charged on a one-count charge of rape, an offence which is contrary to Section 358 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. II, Laws of State of Osun, 2003.

Mrs Rachael Ojimi, a chief state counsel from the Ministry of Justice, told the court that on 15 September 2007, the convict, went to the house of the unidentified victim and forcefully raped her at about 7:30 pm.

The prosecutor also disclosed that the medical report obtained from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Teaching Hospital Osogbo, confirmed that she was raped and impregnated in the process.

The presiding judge, Justice A. B. AbdulKareem, stated that the prosecutor had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, hence, he found the convict guilty of rape and unlawful carnal knowledge of a lady without her consent.

  2. thankz for the arrest, but when the man now is been send to life imprisment who is going to be the baby, know this for sure that the law has destroyed part of the future of the baby, since the fahter doesnt have right to live.
