Arese Ugwu is a money blogger (sounds suspiciously like ‘money doubler’) and building a personal financial platform (Smart Money Africa) targeted at young people – especially young women. And this has clearly been her year if you pay attention to Instagram.
First she hosted a finance workshop targeted at young women that hosted almost a 100 people, paid for, and then she presented her finance workbook for young people who want to save and invest. She will also be unveiling a short (finance) novel focused on the same demographic this month.
But what’s most interesting are her media moves – whether planned or not.
She hosts a popular paid-for gig with Ndani TV called ‘Analyse This’ where she looks at the Nigerian economy with her co-host Tunji Andrews (blogger, and host on Bloomberg TV Africa most famous for his viral Oando expose).
Which makes it easily clear that she is now the country’s leading financial journalism authority.
And just this week, we find out she will be hosting ‘Your Life, Your Money’ with Guardian TV launching on Monday.
She has no prior experience in media of any form, save for blogging, mind you. Which just reminds you of something everyone should know by now: everything you know about journalism has completely changed.
