According to former Barcelona defender Edmilson, the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, make up the best attacking line-up in the club’s history.
In his words: “The trident formed by Leo Messi, Neymar, and Luís Suarez is the best trio in Barcelona’s history.
“Everyone in Brazil is happy for Neymar. He’s playing fabulously, scoring goals and getting on well with Messi and Suarez.”
On paper, it might appear to be so. But on the field of play, only Messi and Neymar have delivered. Suarez is finding it hard to play supporting cast to Messi, when just a year ago, he was the go-to man at Liverpool.
Having said so, the signs are encouraging. Last weekend, Messi scored twice, while Neymar and Suarez got one apiece, as they tore through a tough Athletic Bilbao side.
But until they start producing such performances on a regular, Barcelona’s attack that boasted of star players like Samuel Eto’o, Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry, has to be the best. For consistency. For goals. For substance.
