Misau to appear before senate panel over allegations against IGP

The Senate ad hoc committee investigating allegations of corruption and misconduct by Senator Isah Misau against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris will probe the senator on Tuesday.

The Chairman of the committee and Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, Francis Alimikhena, made this known to journalists in Abuja on Sunday.

What happened:

  • Senator Misau had accused Ibrahim Idris of collecting bribe from organisations where policemen were deployed to provide security.
  • He also alleged that police officers pay millions of naira to the IGP for special promotions.
  • He later alleged that the IGP impregnated some policewomen and promoted them.
  • The Federal Government had filed a suit against the senator for the accusations.

What is happening:

He said the panel would make the next move after Misau had appeared before it.

Alimikhena said, “Senator Isah Hamman Misau will appear before the committee on Tuesday to answer to questions that will come up after his presentation. From there, we will take the next step.”
