A Spanish woman has been accused of throwing her newborn baby boy out of a window after secretly giving birth on Christmas Eve.

Cops in Spain say the 35-year-old mum delivered the baby herself before cutting the umbilical cord.

She then wrapped the baby in a pair of jeans before allegedly throwing it out of the kitchen window into a courtyard.

As reported by Sky News, the baby boy survived the fall. However, he was found suffering from hypothermia, his heart had stopped beating and he was not breathing.

The baby was rushed to hospital after being revived by emergency crews. Detectives then arrested his mum on suspicion of attempting to kill the baby.

A police statement read: “The woman wrapped the baby in a pair of jeans and threw it out of the kitchen window into an interior courtyard.”

The woman had kept the baby’s birth secret from her parents, who she lived with in Madrid.

The baby was only spotted after its grandmother saw it in the patio after looking out of the window.
