A gunman fatally shot his estranged wife, Kelly Coca, 28, and their 5-year-old daughter before trying to take his own life. The unidentified man survived a self-inflicted bullet to his head.

A 27-year-old man shot and killed his estranged wife and their 5-year-old daughter inside a Chicago apartment early Tuesday before trying to take his own life in a failed suicide bid, cops said.

The gunman, who was not identified, burst into the South Kildare Ave. home in Little Village and opened fire on his wife, 28-year-old Kelly Mariel Coca, and their daughter, Karla Eguez, about 12:15 a.m., relatives told CBS Chicago.

One of Coca’s sisters, who lives upstairs, heard a pair of gunshots and ran down to the apartment armed with a knife, according to the news station.

But when she got to the front door, she found it locked — and then she heard a third round fired from inside the pad.

Police soon arrived and found Coca and little Karla dead with bullets to the head. But the gunman was still alive with a self-inflicted bullet to his head, police said.

Distraught relatives said the couple had met in Bolivia, but had seperated seperated a few years ago. Coca moved to Chicago to be near her family.

Kelly Coca, 28, and her 5-year-old daughter, Carla Equez, moved to Chicago after Coca seperated from her husband, who she met in Bolivia.

Family members told ABC Chicago that the jilted husband had served in Afghanistan as an Army ranger.

Coca’s estranged husband was living in Miami, where little Karla went to visit last week, relatives told NBC News.

Neighbors told the news station that the double murder left the community stunned.

“Everybody knows that family,” said one man, who lives nearby. “They’re always out front having a good time. They go to church right here in the next block. Everybody knows them.”
