Monsters: 2 women raped by a gang of teenagers in a public park

Two women, 24 and 32, were attacked and raped in Wilmington, Delaware’s Kosciuszko Park when a gang of nearly a dozen teenage boys approached them sitting in the park.

The women were assaulted by the group of 10 to 12 African American juveniles, all of whom fled from the scene and have not yet been apprehended.

The attack occurred in the early evening while it was still light out, however there are no witnesses to the crime at this time.

Though they have yet to be caught, the teenage perpetrators are believed to be African American and between the ages of 12 and 17. Yet, other than that the police have very little information to go on, according to NBC 10.

The police were alerted to the crime which occurred at 6:54PM after they received a 911 call reporting the abuse of the women Delaware Online reported.

After arriving on scene the police were unable to find the perpetrators or any eye witnesses to the crime, despite the small park being surrounded by residential homes.

The two women where rushed to the hospital where they were just released Friday night.

In the days following the rapes neighbors and local city officials gathered to rally their support being the victims, CBS 3 Philly reported.

‘It disturbs me that you have 10 to 12 juveniles committing such a heinous act in a park where children should be playing,’ Sherry Dorsey-Walker Sixth District Council Member said at a press conference broadcast by the station.

At this time, though the investigation continues, police believe that this was an isolated random act of violence, the television station reported.

Since the incident the police department has increased the number of patrols in and around the park.

Neighbors who live around the park, which is only 4 square blocks in length, told reporters they didn’t hear or see anything at the time of the crime.

Locals were shocked to hear that this crime occurred.

‘This is a good neighborhood, and I lived around here for a year,’  Baseer Powell, a resident told CBS 3, ‘I’m surprised this happened but its on these kids’ parents to raise them right.’
