NFF credits World Cup performance for Nigeria’s rise in FIFA rankings

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has said that the Super Eagles have risen in the latest FIFA rankings, because they have a good tournament at the just concluded World Cup in Brazil.

Nigeria jumped ten places and are now 34th in the world in the newest rankings released on Thursday.

A statement released by NFF’s spokesman Ademola Olajire said: “The great leap has occurred as a result of the Super Eagles’ Round of 16 berth at the recently – concluded 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, and also sees the African champions rising to third place in Africa, behind Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire.”

The African champions are placed third in Africa, only behind Algeria and Cote d’Ivoire.
