We have not betrayed Biafra struggle – MASSOB

Following allegations made by officials of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), on Monday denied allegations that it has betrayed the Biafra struggle.

The group made this known in reaction to a statement credited to two spokesmen of IPOB, Emma Nmezu and Clifford Iroanya that MASSOB had derailed and betrayed the Biafra struggle.

MASSOB under the leadership of Comrade Uchenna Madu said the organization would not stop the struggle like its former leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike.

The statement signed by MASSOB director of information, Comrade Samuel Edeson read: “MASSOB, under the leadership of our leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, expresses dissatisfaction and sadness over this allegation from our sister organization, IPOB, and we advise that the statements should be thoroughly investigated because our image and name had been adversely affected..

“MASSOB understands that IPOB, while making the statements, was referring to Ralph Uwazuruike’s betrayal and sabotage, If Uwazurike, as a person, is accused of being corrupt and sabotaging the Biafra struggle, it does not mean that MASSOB as an organization, had betrayed Biafra struggle.

“Uwazuruike’s deviation from Biafra struggle was the primary reason MASSOB expelled and chased him out of MASSOB headquarters at Okwe, Imo State since 2014.

“MASSOB now under the leadership of Uchenna Madu has continued with the Biafra struggle untainted, unblemished and unstained and is highly energized with the Biafra spirit of consistency and self determination. “

It also recalled that MASSOB was the first group that reacted against what it called “the unapproved dialogue by MEND on Nnamdi Kanu’s release”
