The All Progressives Congress has condemned the threatening comments made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, against the Igbo ethnic groups in Lagos state.
The party, in an attempt to stay out of the brouhaha, has completely distanced itself from the mess created by the first class monarch.
In a series of tweets posted on its Twitter timeline, APC communicated it’s disapproval of the Oba’s utterances:
“@omojuwa: As a person, Akin Ambode has never used hate speech or try to send one ethnic group against the other in this campaign”

The Oba of Lagos does not speak for the APC. From Gen. Buhari down to Desmond Elliot, even true APC supporters, no hate speeches made so far

Bad is bad, irrespective of where it comes from. We highly condemn the comments made by the highly respected Oba of Lagos in strong terms

Lagos is a special state. It has accounted for its diversity in its cabinet. It has never been an issue till now. #WhyYouShouldVoteAmbode

In the 16 years that the party has governed Lagos, we have never heard of ethnicity as we have had in this gubernatorial elections.

Since 99, the Lagos State Government has appointed Commissioners from various parts of Nigeria. It understands diversity is a blessing.

I’m totally shocked and short of words. What sort of frustration could have made the respected monarch loose self control. This is against the cherished and adored Yoruba culture and traditions. I want to believe that the oba’s pronouncements was a slipped of tongue and therefore he needs to make corrections. He should therefore find a way to appease the Ndigbo.
He did not speak for the APC or Ambode. It was certainly his personal opinion of which is entitled.
