Okorocha’s statue destroyed in his hometown

Okorocha

A sculpted statue of Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, situated in his Ideato hometown, has been destroyed.

The statue, which shows Okorocha on a horse back, is mounted at the Ogboko Junction, along the Orlu-Urualla federal highway.

Vanguards reports that the statue has been brought down and damaged beyond repair.

While the state government has not yet reacted to the destroyed effigy of the Governor, no individual or group has however claimed responsibility for the destruction.

It is believed that the residents of the town are displeased with Okorocha over the state government’s inability and/or unwillingness to pay staff salaries and pensions, as well as the decaying infrastructure in the state.

Workers and pensioners in Imo, have for the past three days, protested in Owerri, to demand for the payment of the arrears of their salaries.
