It was a wise decision to make the wedding a private affair. The media has already had enough of the ‘TokeMaje’ love tale’, and their relationship has often been in the front burner of gossip blogs, and soft sell magazines. This goes to show that celebs can still keep their private lives private.
So I was surprised when I saw my friend’s BBM update that our dear Toke Makinwa has finally tied the knots with her fitness expert beau, Maje Ayida. My friend told me to visit a particular blog and I did. I read the scoop on the blog and got the necessary details. So many people didn’t see this coming. Even though some of Toke’s tweets gave mild hints, nobody knew it will turn out this way. ”I can’t express, the joy in my heart, can’t wait to share it with you all”, she tweeted during the week.
It was a wise decision to make the wedding a private affair. The media has already had enough of the ‘TokeMaje’ love tale’, and their relationship has often been in the front burner of gossip blogs, and soft sell magazines. This goes to show that celebs can still keep their private lives private. Nobody knew Goldie was married till she passed away. Even though people find gossiping about their favourite celeb interesting, celebrities can still keep their private lives from the public glare.
According to media commentator Mark Borkowski, celebrities need to realize that to a certain extent they are public property. Despite this, he continues, it can still be possible for them to have a private life. “If you want privacy, you can obtain it by keeping a delicate balance between the needs of promoting what you have to professionally – and how you conduct your life,” he explains.
On the flipside, some celebs make their private lives public knowledge. Like the case of Karen Igho who revealed that she is in the U.K undergoing treatment. The ball is however in your court, and it’s up to you to reveal certain private parts of your life or not, as you deem fit. In an age where celeb’s privacy is daily invaded, where gossip blogs are looking for the next big celebrity scandal, celebs can still choose to tread the path of caution and pull their private lives off the public glare.
What aspect of a celebrity’s life should be private and which should remain in the public domain? Let’s talk!
