If you think the incumbent governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola is coasting to victory in today’s gubernatorial election (based on results out of polling nits across the state), well count out the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode. The politician is telling whoever cares to listen that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is actually in the lead.
Speaking with Premium Times after the voting was concluded Fani-Kayode who recently decamped to the PDP said: “As far as we are concerned, by our own collation, we are ahead. We defeated them (APC) heavily in our strongholds and in their strongholds, the race has been very close.
“All these claims that they have won is not true. It is disinformation and we advise that people wait for the INEC to announce the authentic result.”
With the final results expected to be announced by INEC’s Chief Returning Officer on Sunday it is apparent that the PDP still hopes to pull an upset in an election many observers believe is done and dusted.
Fani-Kayode however gave the APC his last word of caution saying, “I can tell you that it is not over.”
The former Aviation Minister probably knows something you don’t.
