Over 40 vehicles have been destroyed in fresh violence in lagos over the weekend. The incident occured sunday morning, around Market Street, Oyingbo Lagos.
According to eye witness accounts, the trouble started on Saturday after a lawmaker representing Lagos Mainland Federal constituency, Mr. Monsuru Owolabi was harassed at a party around the area by hoodlums who demanded he give them money.
The lawmaker reportedly confronted the group of hoodlums for hitting his vehicle and the fracas broke out.
Residents of the area allege that supporters of the lawmaker on Sunday morning descended on the area in an apparent reprisal attack, smashing windscreens of over vehicles parked along the Market road.
Mr. Monsuru however denied those allegations. “I saw three boys infront of my car, chanting and hitting my car that I cannot pass the road unless I give them money.” he said. “But they argued with each other and later cleared the road for me to go. I do not know anything about the hoodlums that came again, the following morning.”
