Forex scam: Pastor jailed for 14 years

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on July 11, 2016, secured the conviction of Pastor Emmanuel Markus Anga and Atin Victor Generous before Justice Abubakar Jauro of Gombe State High Court on a two count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money by false pretense.

Justice Jauro convicted and sentenced the convicts to seven years imprisonment on count one (conspiracy), the sentence are to run-concurrently, and also convicted and sentence Generous to another seven years in count two (obtaining by false pretense), the sentence are to commence on11th July, 2016.

Anga and Generous are alleged to have in November 2013, deceived David Madison, into believing that they were employees of foreign exchange business, Gora Commanding Resources, which they claimed belonged to Philemon Gora, who is still at large.

Madison was lured into believing that his investment of five hundred thousand (N500,000.00) would yield him ten percent (10%) interest as returns on a monthly basis. He however discovered later that the 10% on his capital reflected on his account only in the first month of his investment. All the effort to recover his money proved abortive.

While delivering his judgment, Justice Jauro, ordered Generous to pay the sum (N500, 000.00) back to the victim.
