President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday described the lingering crisis the the Peoples Democratic Party as a minor disagreement which would soon bee resolved.

The president gave this assurance at a post-convention dinner held in honour of the newly elected members of the national executive committee of the party, in Abuja.

The president who recently returned from an official visit to Kenya implied that the ongoing disagreement in the ruling party is being blown out of proportion by a section of the media.

Six serving governors and former vice president Atiku Abubakar had walked out on the PDP mini-convention penultimate Saturday in protest over the handling of the party by its leadership spearheaded by its National Chairman, Bamanga Tukur.

The president said, “We are all adults and we all know that in all human institutions there must be some disagreements.

“There is no human institution that shouldn’t have any disagreement. In families, we disagree. So, what happened I believe is a minor disagreement we will be able to solve,” he said.

Jonathan, however, added that care should be taken so as not to allow the issue escalate. He said the matter should be handled in such a way that party cohesion is retained.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo, who is mediating in the party crisis, and several other governors failed to attend the event.
