Oscar Pistorius: Prosecution counsel to appeal 6 year jail sentence

Oscar Pistorius might be facing another round of court room proceedings after the South African prosecutors’ office said it will appeal the ‘lenient’ sentence given to the blade runner for shooting his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp to death on Valentine’s Day in 2013 after he allegedly mistook her for a burglar.

In July, Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to a 6-year jail term by Judge Thokozile Masipa after his initial five-year conviction for manslaughter was changed to murder in December 2015 after the prosecution appealed.

However on Thursday, the South African prosecutors’ office issued a statement announcing its intention to appeal the case saying it found the sentence ‘disproportionate to the crime of murder committed and shockingly too lenient’.
