The father of the former governor of Plateau state, Joshua Dariye,  has been rescued from his captors, after being in captivity for 6 days.

Dariye Dafweng was abducted on the night of Saturday, February 7, at his village in Mushere, Bokkos LGA of Plateau, and kidnappers had thereafter demanded a ransom of $10 million through a letter to the family.

His release was confirmed on Friday, February 13, by the police spokesperson in the state, Abuh Emmanuel, who revealed that four persons were arrested, when Dariye was rescued at Quan Pan.

He said: “Police has formally handed over the man to his son, Sen. Joshua Dariye, here in Jos. As I speak with you he is at the Dariye residence in Jos.”

He, however, failed to divulge whether a ransom was paid or not, saying: “I believe his release was due to frantic efforts by the police and concerned members of the public.
