Playable City Lagos 2016 now receiving applications

Watershed, British Council and Future Lagos seek ten creative people to participate in an eight-day Playable City Lagos Lab in March 2016.

Rooted in the challenges and opportunities of one of Africa’s fastest growing cities, Playable City Lagos will support, inspire and challenge participants to develop playful interventions intersection of art, technology, society and culture.

Responding to specific social challenges and geographic locations in Lagos, participants will be supported to create ideas and working prototypes that can be demonstrated as part of a public showcase.

The process will be underpinned by specially commissioned local research undertaken by Future Lagos.

We are looking for creative, ambitious, curious people from any discipline who believe we can start a new kind of city conversation through play. We have places for seven Nigerian creatives based in Lagos, Nigeria and three UK-based creatives.

Successful Applicants will be awarded:

• £1000 honorarium  (or the Naira equivalent)

• Travel and accommodation (where needed, including international flights)

• Food and subsistence for the duration of the programme

• Practical support and expertise in producing the work, and understanding local culture

• Access to facilities and connection to a vibrant community of creatives

• Professional documentation of the work, including images and a video of the project.

Full details of the 2016 lab, including assessment criteria are contained in the Open Call Overview 2016
