Vanguard Newspaper reports:

Ogodo however said that it was later discovered that it was Corporal Kayade who shot the deceased.

According to him Kayode was found guilty of the offense after a trial by the Police authorities.

The Police spokesmsn said “He (Kayode) confessed that he carried out the shooting without the participation of others, so he has been tried and dismissed.

“He has also been charged to court for murder and he has been remanded while the trial goes on.”

Ogodo pointed out that five policemen arrested alongside with Kayode have been released after they were found not culpable of the offence.

“The other policemen were tried along with him, but they were not found guilty. Kayode confessed that he did the firing alone and we cannot punish the innocent along the guilty,” Ogodo said.
Those arrested but later freed for lack of proof linking them to the crime include Sergeant Audu Mamven, Sergeant Akinlotan Johnson, Corporal Mohammed Musa, Corporal Samuel Arabamen and Corporal Omole Godwin.

The deceased driver was shot dead by the policeman following a disagreement over his driving of unregistered vehicle.
