Police rescue 41 persons kidnapped by bandits in Zamfara

The Police in Zamfara State said it has rescued 41 persons abducted by bandits in Maru local government area of the state last week.

This was disclosed by the state Commissioner of Police, Shaba Alkali while addressing newsmen on Wednesday.

Alkali said no ransom was paid for the release of the victims.

He said an Inspector of Police was one of the abductees who returned in good health.

He further said pressure mounted on the bandits by the joint security personnel led to their release.

The bandits had earlier demanded the release of over 400 cows siezed from them as condition for the release of their victims.
