President Goodluck Jonathan is back from Brazil, where he’d attended the United Nations Earth summit.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the president, Reuben Abati disclosed that Jonathan is getting down to business immediately. He has summoned an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) to discuss matters relating to the security of the nation and chart the course on the way forward.

Vice President Namadi Sambo, Minister of Defence haliru Mohammed, National Security Adviser Owoye Azazi and the Heads of Defence Agencies are also expected to be in attendance.

President Jonathan’s was widely criticized for his trip to Rio+20 Summit in Brazil. Lawmakers, opposition parties and ordinary Nigerians felt that it was like a captain abandoning his ship in a time of crisis.
