[The Presidential Blog] LOL see how someone allegedly tried to impersonate Femi Adesina

Amidst the Magu confirmation palava, we somehow forgot that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission did not stop functioning. So that, we almost missed this bit of news that’s a mix of funny and extremely sad.

Now, we must say upfront that we haven’t heard the Special Assistant to the President talk about this ordeal so we cannot entirely confirm that it really happened. But it’s an interesting development and we’ll let you know if it turns out to be false.

Here goes:

So this guy, named Christian, impersonated the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina in an attempt to get 300,000 from a Professor at the Bayero University in Kano.

He randomly sent the Professor an SMS in July 2016 claiming to be the President’s aide and that he was speaking on behalf of the President. He claimed the Professor’s name had been forwarded for appointment in the Presidency and that he was searching for a better office for him.

Subsequently,  he asked the professor to make payment of the sum of N300,000  to facilitate his appointment to the Nigeria Port Authority or Nigerian Railway Cooperation and Rural Electrification. LOL.

But apparently, the Professor is not about that kind of business so he immediately reported the matter to the EFCC who have now arraigned him at the Federal High Court Kano on a two-count charge of Obtaining by False Pretence.

The case has been adjourned to 11th April, 2017 for commencement of trial while the defendant remains in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail terms.
